San Jose Sharks vs Dallas Stars
San Jose Sharks scored 5 unanswered goals after a 3 goal deficit for a huge 5-3 win over the Dallas Stars
The Sharks started the game sluggishly. Dallas had the first 7 shots on goal and their 8th shot from Ty Dellandrea found its way to the net on the short side.
San Jose started to pick up some pace after that and ended the 1st period on a one goal deficit.
After a lackluster power play by the Sharks in the 2nd period, Colin Miller got the pass across from the left board, through 4 Sharks, to Jason Roberton low in the slot.
Robertson caught the puck with his left hand, put it on the ice, and wacked it in the net.
To make matters worse, just 3 minutes later, Radek Faksa attempted to pass the puck through the crease but the puck got redirected off of Timo Meier’s skate into the Sharks net and gave them a deadly 3-0 lead.
That seemed to have woken up the sleeping giant, as just 3 minutes later Steven Lorentz scored with a wrister from the inside of the right circle.
Another 2 minutes later, Alexander Barabanov tried to score with a wrap-around but the puck slipped out to the tape of Nick Banino who was crashing the net.
He released a quick wrister and scored. At 15:18 of the 2nd period, while the Sharks were on a power play, Timo Meier’s shot from the right circle deflected off of a Dallas defender’s stick in the net and tied the game at 3.
San Jose started the 3rd period with all the momentum on their side. At 10:41 the Sharks took their first lead of the night.
Nick Bonino passed the puck to Erik Karlsson in the right circle and Karlsson took a one-timer shot to the top corner on the short side.
In the final minutes of the game, with Dallas goalie out of the net, Logan Couture scored an empty net goal for a final 5-3 win over the Stars.
