After leading for only 62 seconds in a 3 game series against the Colorado Avalanche this season, San Jose Sharks quickly unraveled in the 2nd period in a 6-2 loss

San Jose quickly unraveled in the 2nd period. At 2:32 of the 2nd period, Evan Rodrigues stripped the puck off of Henry Thrun behind the Sharks’ net. He skated to the front, faked a shot, and left the puck for Mikko Rantanen and he backhanded a shot in a wide open net as Kaapo bit on the fake shot. Just 5 minutes later, at 7:19 of the 2nd period, Colorado won an offensive zone faceoff, which led to Nathan MacKinnon taking a shot from top of the left circle that found its way to the Sharks net. On the very next shift, MacKinnon made this perfect pass from the right circle on to the tape of Mikko on the back door for an easy tap in goal giving him a hat trick. This ended the night for Kaapo Kahkonen as he was replaced by James Reimer. On the very next shift San Jose scored their 2nd goal. Erik Karlsson made a no-look pass from the slot to Steven Lorenz on the bottom of the left circle. Lorentz shot it in a wide open net and the Colorado goalie was set on top of the crease for a shot from Karlsson. Before the 2nd period was over, Ben Meyers got behind the Sharks’ defense and wristed a shot through the 5-hole which made it 5-2 Colorado.
