San Jose Sharks out-worked and defeated Vegas Golden Knights, in a 4-3 OT Victory

The 1st shot on goal for the Sharks came at 4:16 of the 1st period and it was a stinger. Rookie Henry Thrun made a D to D pass to Mario Ferraro on the center blue line. Ferraro took a hard slap shot that found its way to the net. Congratulations to Henry Thrun for earning his 1st NHL assist in his 1st NHL game on his 1nd shift on the ice. At 14:31, a give and go play between Ferraro and Lindblom ended up in the Vegas’ net. Oskar Lindblom drop-passed the puck on the top of the right circle for Mario Ferraro and sped to the far side of the goal. Ferraro got the pass through back to Lindblom and he deflected it in the net and put the Sharks up on a 2-0 lead. Henry Thrun earned his 2nd assist of the night. With less than 3 minutes left in the period, James Reimer mishandled the puck behind the net which led to Nicolas Hague scoring on a wide open net.

On the very first shift of the 2nd period, Erik Karlsson got a tripping penalty. On the ensuing power play, James Reimer came too far out to his right to challenge Nicolas Roy but Roy got the pass back to Ivan Barbashev and he shot it in the net and tied the game at 2. At 11:47 of the 2nd period, Martin Kaut made a pass from the right circle to Tomas Hertl in the slot. Hertl deflected it towards the net but a Vegas defender got his stick on it causing it to bounce up over the goalie’s pad into the net. Second period ended with the Sharks leading 3-2.

Half way through the 3rd period, Michael Amadio wacked home a rebound through the 5-hole and tied the game at 3. Just 50 seconds into the overtime, captain Logan Couture intercepted a pass and got a breakaway. He skated straight on and wristed a shot through the 5-hole for a final 4-3 OT victory for the Sharks.
