Blues thrash the Sharks with a 6-3 victory

San Jose Sharks vs St. Louis Blues

Just 3:40 into the first period, Andreas Johnsson chipped the puck from near the Sharks’ goal line all the way in the offensive zone. Alexander Barabanov got to it and moved it from his backhand, through the defender’s legs, to his forehand towards the slot and wristed a shot by the right post and put the Sharks up on a 1-0 lead. At 6:31 of the first, Erik Karlsson skates with the puck through the left circle. He drop passed to Logan Couture on top of the left circle and Logan unloaded a slap shot to the top right corner giving San Jose a 2-0 lead.

At 2:35 into the 2nd period, a breakdown in the Sharks defense allowed Nikita Alexandrov to make a pass from the left boards to Colton Parayko on the back door for an easy tap in goal. Just over 2 minutes later Alexander Barabanov took a tripping penalty in the offensive zone. On the ensuing power play, Jordan Kyrou scored with a wrister from the low slot and tied the game at 2. Before the period was over, St. Louis scored 2 more goals from Logan Brown and Brayden Schenn.

At 6:36 into the 3rd period, while the Sharks were killing a penalty, Steven Lorentz scored a short-handed goal with a wrister from the slot. That gave some life to San Jose. However, a late turnover by Jacob MacDonald led to a 2 on 0 and the Blues capitalized. Before it was all over, Blues scored an empty net goal to make it 6-3.
