The Sharks dominated the first period by out-shooting the Dallas Stars. Halfway through the period, while the Sharks were on a power play, Logan Couture ripped a shot from top of the left circle that went straight in the net through traffic in front of the net. With less then five minutes left in the period, Brent Burns shot from the right blue-line got deflected off of a player to Timo Meier, low in the left circle. Meier wristed a shot on a tight angle and into the net to put the Sharks at 2-0 lead.
Things definitely settled in the second period. Both teams only allowed one shot on goal for the first eight minutes of the period. However, before the period ended, Jamie Benn scored with a one-timer from low in the left circle. Second period ended with 2-1 Sharks.
The Sharks were out-shot by 12-1 in the third period. Fifteen minutes into the third period, Gemel Smith scored on a rebound from the right side of the crease and tied the game at 2. Just two minutes later, an unfortunate turnover by Sharks, Tomas Hertl led to Jamie Benn on a breakaway. Benn stick handled from left to right and scored. The Stars led for the first time in this game with 3-2. Benn had a hat trick tonight by scoring on a empty-netter.

Tonight the Sharks led in shots (31-23), face-offs (54%-46%), blocked shots (21-15) and takeaways (10-5) while the Stars led in hits (27-15) and giveaways (7-5).
