Sharks had a sluggish start to the game. They had zero shots for the first five minutes and that is when Martin Jones made a leaping save as the puck slipped through his gloves and headed for the goal line. The Sharks started to pick up the pace and with four minutes left in the first period, Mikkel Boedker passed to Tim Heed in the right circle and he passed it to Joonas Donskoi for an open net tap taking a 1-0 lead.
Second period started off with Nashville Predators goalie, Pekka Rinne making an amazing save on Melker Karlsson’s opportunity in front of the net. Just a minute later, Sharks defender, Joakim Ryan made a tip save from Predators, Calle Jarnkrok who had a wide open net with Martin Jones out of position. Halfway through the second period, Brenden Dillon rips a shot from the blue line that got tipped in by Joe Pavelski, putting the Sharks on a 2-0 lead. Within a minute later, Roman Josi scores a goal and puts Predators on the score board (2-1). Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored his first goal of the season on a shot from the blue line that got tipped by Predators, P.K. Subban. Second period ends with Sharks in a commanding lead 3-1.
Third period started with Predators, Ryan Johansen smashing Sharks top defense-men, Marc-Edouard Vlasic on the boards. Pickles was down on the ice for few minutes and then went off to the locker room. He did not return for the remaining of the game. San Jose Sharks Captain, Joe Pavelski threw his gloves for the first time this season and went at it with Ryan Johansen. The fans cheered and appreciated this class act from their Captain. Brenden Dillon also dropped his gloves with Austin Watson but refs stepped in. Sharks scored their forth goal of the game by Chris Tierney making a perfect pass to Mikkel Boedker for a one timer that beat Predators goalie, Pekka Rinne top shelf short side. Final score 4-1 Sharks win.
Tonight the Sharks led in shots (23-20), blocked shots (26-8) while the Predators led in face-offs (54%-46%) and hits (39-25). Joe Thornton scored his 1400th point tonight.
