Sharks vs Panthers: Panthers scored 2 and Sharks scored 2. Final 2-0 Panthers
San Jose Sharks only got one shot in the first five minutes but then picked up the pace. Both teams played pretty even game in the first period except Florida Panthers got a clean break-away in the last minute. Sharks goalie, Martin Jones came up big to keep score tied at 0.
Second period started off with the Panthers forward, Colton Sceviour wrapping the puck around from behind the net and taking couple of whacks at it. The puck slipped in the goal giving the Panthers 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later, Joe Thornton dropped the puck back to Tim Heed on a rush and he rockets it into the net. Goal was disallowed as Heed was offside. Puck had just crossed the blue-line into the neutral zone before it made with his stick. Second period ended with the Panthers in the lead 1-0.
The Sharks started the third period with thirty-seconds remaining on their power play. Three minutes later had their second power play and Marc-Edouard Vlasic scored. Again the goal was challenged and disallowed for goal tender interference. With less than eight minutes left in the third period, a tic-tac-toe pass lands on the stick of Panthers’ forward, Nick Bjugstad and he buried it, extending the lead to 2-0. Final score 2-0 Panthers.
Tonight the Sharks led in face-offs (52%-48%), shots (35-28), giveaways (20-14) and takeaways (23-20) while the Panthers led in hits (22-19) and blocked shots (18-12). Both teams were perfect on penalty kills.
