The Sharks dominated the first period. Just over five minutes into the game, a shot by Brent Burns generated a rebound that ended up on Marcus Sorensen’s skates. Sorensen kicked the puck out to his stick and into the net.
Second period was dominated by the Ducks. Martin Jones made plenty of grade A saves to keep the Sharks in the lead.
Thirty seconds into the third period, the Ducks scored on a rebound but the goal was disallowed for offside. With twelve minutes left in the game, Andrew Cogliano received a pass from behind, low in the slot and tied the game for the Ducks. Tied game only lasted for a minute. Marc-Edouard Vlasic took a hard shot from the blue-line and Tomas Hertl tipped it in the net through goalie’s five-hole.

Tonight the Sharks led in hits (28-27), giveaways (9-8) and takeaways (12-6) while the Ducks led in shots (31-24) and face-offs (52%-48%). Both teams tied in blocked shots at 19.
