With five minutes left in the first period, Tim Heed got a pass from the Marc-Edouard Vlasic on the blue line and he one timed a rocket from the left circle that beat goalie top shelf. The Sharks lead only lasted twenty seconds. On the very next shift, Alex Galchenyuk got behind the Sharks defense and beat Aaron Dell by his left pad.
Only goal in the second period was scored when the Sharks found themselves on the wrong end of a five-on-three. That’s when Galchenyuk shot a bullet from the right circle that beat Dell on the short side.
Just four minutes into the third period, Tomas Hertl skated down the right boards then cut behind the Arizona defense and shot it in the net beating the goalie on the short side to tie the game at two. Just two minutes later, San Jose gave up two back to back breakaways. On the second breakaway Conor Garland beat Dell top shelf and took the lead for Arizona. With just six minutes left in the game, Tomas Hertl skated behind the net and beat Adin Hill with a wrap around to the far side and tied the game at three.
There was no scoring in the overtime. In the shoot-out, Galchenyuk scored his third goal of the game.

Tonight the Sharks led in shots (38-26), face-offs (57%-43%) and takeaways (12-11) while the Coyotes led in hits (19-16) and blocked shots (28-12). Both teams were tied in giveaways at 10.
