Event Name: San Jose Sharks vs Anaheim Ducks
Date: December 27, 2018
Location: SAP Center: 525 W Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113
Hosted by: San Jose Sharks Hockey
The Sharks started the game little sluggish, as they came off the holiday break and took couple of sloppy penalties. On their second penalty kill, Martin Jones left a juicy rebound in the crease which Jakob Silfverberg picked up and tucked it into the Sharks’ net. Before the period was over, Joonas Donskoi’s wrap around attempt was blocked by John Gibson. However, the rebound went straight to Melker Karlsson and he tapped it into the Ducks’ net and tied the game at one.
The Ducks started off the second period with their backup goalie Chad Johnson. Just over five minutes into the period, Captain Joe Pavelski took couple of wacks at a rebound in the crease that Marcus Sorensen tapped in over the line and put the Sharks on a 2-1 lead.
Just four minutes into the third period, Kiefer Sherwood, who was wide open low in the slot, wristed a shot that trickled through Jones’ five-hole and into the net. Half way through the period, with some sustained pressure from the Sharks, Brent Burns took a hard shot from top of the left circle that rang off the far post and into the net which made Burns 1000th NHL game more memorable. With just seconds left in the game, Tomas Hertl put the last nail in the coffin with an empty net goal.
