The game started off with plenty of shenanigans between these two teams. Dion Phaneuf took a run at couple of Sharks and Evander Kane got one back. Before the period was over couple of the Sharks players got behind the Kings defense. Kane took a hard shot from low in the left circle which the goalie saved but the rebound went to Joonas Donskoi on the right for a tap in goal that gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead.
Game opened up a bit more in the second period with both teams exchanging opportunities. Just over three minutes into the period, Anze Kopitar got an inside position on Erik Karlsson low in the left circle. That’s when Dustin Brown passed the puck from the right circle for an easy tap in goal for Kopitar. Half way through the period, Eric Karlsson made a stretch pass to Tomas Hertl in the neutral zone and off he went beating Jake Muzzin to the right circle. Hertl took a back hand shot that beat Jack Campbell over his shoulder in the short side.
The Kings continued to put up a good fight to keep it a one goal game. In the last minute of the game, Joe Thornton scored an empty net goal.
