STORY: Leaders from India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) exchanged blows after heated arguments during in meeting in northern Sant Kabir Nagar district.
BJP lawmaker Sharad Tripathi and legislator Rakesh Singh Baghel broke into a brawl with two hitting each other with shoe and fist. Security personnel and officials stepped in to break up the fight.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Reportedly, the argument between the two leaders broke out over disagreement of placement of names on a foundation stone of a project.
“Whatever happened is not my usual behaviour and what happened is sad. I am not proud of this”, said Tripath after the incident.
Later, supporters of Baghel raised slogans, demanding arrest of Tripathi. However, Baghel later clarified that the protest was not against Tripathi but against the administration which resorted to baton-charge on BJP workers.
