STORY: India’s finance minister Arun Jaitley on Monday (July 10) launched an online service for taxpayers to directly address their queries regarding various aspects of tax payment.
The application, ‘Aaykar Setu’ (taxpayer’s bridge), which can be accessed through desktops and android mobile phones, is aimed at providing information regarding tax services.
After registering themselves, taxpayers will be able to get regular updates and alerts of important dates such as deadlines, forms and norms on their mobile numbers.
Jaitley said the system will reduce the physical interface between the assessees and taxmen, which at time had unintended consequences.
The India’s finance minister said the government was commitment towards continuously upgrading taxpayer services.
The system has several facilities such as live chat, dynamic updates, and important links to various processes within the Income Tax Department in a single module.
