STORY: As the Russia soccer world cup fever catches up all over the world, Indians too are getting excited by the world’s most spectacular sporting extravaganza.

In northern Chandigarh city, Balraj Singh, an artist who is a physical education teacher by profession, carved a miniature trophy of the World Cup on a piece of chalk as an ode to the sport and its fans.

He also crafted a small football and it took him nearly three-four hours to turn a simple piece of chalk into a miniature trophy.

India is the world’s second-most populous nation but it is a major under-achiever as far as soccer is concerned and ranks 97 in the current FIFA rankings with the dream of playing against the world’s best still being far from reality.
