STORY: Indian Air Force jets on Friday (May 10) forced an unidentified aircraft to land at an airbase in northern Jaipur city after the aircraft failed to respond to repeated radio calls from Indian controlling agencies.
The aircraft was detected when it entered Indian airspaces from an unauthorized route at GMT 09:45 in Gujarat state.
Once visual contact was established, the aircraft was identified as Georgian AN-12 cargo plane. On closer inspection, it was ascertained that the aircraft had originated from Tbilisi and was headed for Indian capital, New Delhi via Karachi in Pakistan, a defence ministry statement said.
Further investigations are underway.
