STORY: Indian Premier League women’s cricket team Trailblazers beat Supernovas by two runs in the first Twenty20 match of the tournament in India’s northwestern Jaipur city on Monday (May 06).
Supernovas chasing a target of 140 fell short by two runs and finished at 138 for 6. Trailblazers Captain Smriti Mandhana top scored for her team, scoring 90 off 67 balls, while her Supernovas counterpart Harmanpreet Kaur put up a great show that featured eight boundaries but failed to help her side cross the finishing line.
Supernovas all-rounder Sophie Devine said it was disappointing to get so close and not win the match.
Trailblazers and Supernovas will now face Velocity on Wednesday (May 08) and Thursday (May 09) respectively and the final of the three-team tournament would be played on Saturday (May 11).
