Australian minister reaffirms shared interests of peaceful Indo-Pacific region with India

STORY: Australian Foreign Minister, Marisa Payne, on Wednesday (January 09) reiterated her country’s commitment to strengthening engagements with India and the Indian Ocean region during her address at the Raisina Dailogue.

Australia and India have shared interests in ensuring the peaceful development of an open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, said Payne while addressing the gathering.

Payne also took to twitter and wrote, “Pleased to announce at #Raisina2019 Australia’s new South Asia Regional Infrastructure Connectivity initiative (SARIC), which will support nations to develop high-quality infrastructure projects to attract private sector or multilateral development bank finance.”

Payne who is on a two-day visit to India earlier on Tuesday (January 08), met Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and her host counterpart Sushma Swaraj and held delegation level talks discussing on improving ties between the two nations.
