STORY: Team of 23 motorists began their expedition to British capital of London from India’s Imphal city of northeastern Manipur state on Monday (April 17).
The team, under the expedition named ‘Road to London’, in their 13 sports utility vehicles will travel over 9,000 km. In their 49-day journey, the motorists will pass through central Asia, before entering Russia and then steering their way in Eastern Europe the motorists will enter Germany. From there, the participants will sail over English Channel before entering Britain.
Flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Y Joykumar, the expedition is organised by Adventures Overland, a travel company which specialises in self-driving expeditions and is the brainchild of two avid travelers – Sanjay Madan, an off-roading expert and Tushar Agarwal, a travel writer.
The duo as a team holds a Guinness World Record for driving the longest distance in a single country and they also have 15 Limca World Records under their hat.
The travel company had also organized a similar road trip to Bangkok last year from Imphal.
